Christopher E. Emond, M.D.
Christopher E. Emond, M.D. earned his Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire where he studied Biophysical Chemistry, receiving the Elenore & Dmitry Shiraeff Scholarship for Chemistry majors. He then received his medical degree from New York Medical College (NYMC) in 2003. While there, Dr. Emond was honored with the NYMC Department of Orthopaedic Surgery Annual Achievement Award for his graduating class.
Dr. Emond then returned to his native Boston for an internship in general surgery at Boston University Medical Center. He continued his orthopaedic surgery residency training at Boston, where he served as the program's Chief Resident in 2008. After graduating from residency, Dr. Emond completed subspecialty fellowship training in Sports Medicine Surgery at the Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, where he apprenticed under the team physicians for the Philadelphia Eagles, Flyers, 76ers, 2008 World Series Champion Phillies, and St. Joseph's University.
Dr. Emond's expertise is in the diagnosis and treatment of injuries to the shoulder, elbow, hip, knee and ankle sustained by athletes and non-athletes alike. He joined Tri-State Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in 2013 after practicing in the South Hills area for more than three years, where he served as the orthopaedic team physician for California University of Pennsylvania. He has also recently served as team physician for Seneca Valley High School. He currently serves as the Medical Director of Orthopaedics and Rehab Services, Department of Surgery Chairman, and the Division of Surgery Chairman at Ohio Valley Hospital, part of Heritage Valley Health System.
Dr. Emond is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Emond also has advanced Subspecialty Board Certification in Sports Medicine from the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
