Paul A. Liefeld, M.D.
Paul A. Liefeld, M.D. joined Tri-State Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine in 1988 after relocating his successful orthopaedic practice from Ohio. Dr. Liefeld received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wittenberg University of Ohio, where he graduated magna cum laude in 1975. He then moved to Pennsylvania, where he received his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh. He completed an internship, general surgical residency, and orthopaedic residency at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Dr. Liefeld's special interest in conditions of the spine prompted him to complete a fellowship at St. Luke's Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition to general orthopaedics, his practice spans the fields of joint replacement surgery and arthroscopic surgery, as well as the treatment of spinal conditions and sports-related injuries. Dr. Liefeld earned the distinguished honor of being named to the UPMC Hip and Knee Joint Replacement Surgery Center of Excellence at UPMC Passavant Hospital by demonstrating rigorous quality measures with excellent outcomes and exceptional patient experiences. He also served as the Orthopaedic Department Chair at UPMC Passavant and as the Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Ohio Valley General Hospital. He also served as head team physician for Moon High School for 14 years. Dr. Liefeld is active in his community, having served as a board member for Lutheran Affiliated Services. Dr. Liefeld is Board Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
